Negative feedback is a cellular process that works in a way that
is similar to the manner in which an air conditioner operates: an air
conditioner is set to a specific temperature, and the air conditioner shuts off
when the surrounding air reaches the set temperature. Negative feedback is part
of the homeostatic process through which cells conserve energy by synthesizing
products only for their immediate needs.
