How does wearing high-heeled shoes upset the distribution of the weight of the body on the feet?

High-heeled shoes transfer the balanced distribution of the weight of the body from between the calcaneus (the heel bone) and the metatarsals (bones in the ball of the foot) to just the metatarsals. As a result, the arches of the foot do not absorb the force of the body’s weight, which may lead to injuries of the soft tissue structures, joints, and bones.
