Different types of cancers develop and grow in the different types of tissue. Carcinomas, perhaps the most common type of cancer, are cancers of the epithelial tissue. Sarcomas are cancers arising in the muscle and connective tissue. Leukemias are cancers of the blood. Lymphomas are cancers of the reticular connective tissue.
