Lysosomes are responsible for releasing enzymes that destroy the
injured cells and attack surrounding tissues. Pus is an accumulation of debris,
fluid, dead and dying cells, and necrotic tissue. An abscess is an accumulation
of pus in an enclosed tissue space.
