How is the abdomen divided into nine regions?

The abdomen is divided into nine regions with two vertical lines and two horizontal lines. The two vertical lines are drawn downward from the center of the collarbones. One horizontal line is placed at the lower edge of the rib cage and the other is placed at the upper edge of the hip bones. The umbilical region, containing the navel, is the center of the abdomen.
